Get Kids Going! Runner Ayn Chatoo

Ayn is a long time Get Kids Going runner. She has been raising money for the Get Kids Going! children since her first marathon in 2000. In 1996, Ayn moved away from her parents to start her own life and joined the Esporta Riverside Club. Like some people with a gym membership, it took Ayn awhile to get to the gym until two years after she bought her membership. In 2000, Ayn completed her first marathon. She had gone from a girl who never worked out in her life to a marathon level competitor in two years.

To the day, Ayn has competed in 16 full marathons, 20 half marathons, 13 10k races, and 13 5k races all for Get Kids Going! She has run in the London, Paris, New York, Boston, and Berlin marathons. Next year, Ayn plans to add Chicago to the notch on her belt. She wants to have run in every major marathon. Ayn prides herself on the fact that she helps the Get Kids Going! children. In every race, Ayn raises an average of 1,500 pounds by fund raising through her work friends, and her friends from the fitness club. Ayn explains her fundraising tactic, I work in optical industry, and I have made a lot of friends. I ask my clients, the optical manufacturers, and my friends for fundraising money. All of them are usually happy to help me raise money for such a good cause. Ayn also raves about the people at the Get Kids Going! charity. She explains that Get Kids Going! has always gotten her out of trouble, and has always been there for her when she has needed it at race time.

Ayn ran for Get Kids Going! in the ING New York Marathon, and was very excited. She was so excited she even ran in the Friendship run with the rest of the Get Kids Going! team members the day before the marathon. Ayn and the rest of the team ran from the UN building in New York to Central Park, about 3 miles to warm up for the gruelling marathon ahead. Each country carried their flag. Ayn had the honour of carrying the Union Jack Flag for the Get Kids Going! team.

Ayn was very happy about her whole experience at the ING New York marathon and has high hops for the future. She says I know that Get Kids Going! will continue to support me and we are going to have a great time together! Ayn is doing fantastic in her training. All of us here at Get Kids Going! are very happy to see what Ayn is going to run next!
