David Weir, Get Kids Going! Vice President completely thrashed the competition at the Silverstone Half Marathon as he tried to beat his own course record.

The win was David’s fourth consecutive victory and his win was never in doubt.

He finished almost 10 minutes ahead of John Smith in 2nd with a time of 46minutes 18 seconds (narrowly missing out on his 45minutes 20second record).

David is currently look ahead to the Virgin Money London Marathon where he is hoping to get a record breaking seventh victory.

After the race he said, “The wind was tough today but I’m really pleased with my time.”

He added, “I feel like I’m back to my best; I felt stronger than ever out there today – stronger even than in 2012 when I set the course record. That year there were parts when I struggled but I felt strong all the way round this year – it was just slower into the wind.

Also competing in the Wheelchair Half Marathon was Get Kids Going! athlete Dillon Labrooy who had a fantastic race finishing 3rd with a time of 59minutes 43seconds.

We are very proud of both our athletes and we hope all our runners also enjoyed the race!
