WHEELCHAIR RUGBY

Sadly, Get Kids Going!’s GB’s Wheelchair Rugby Team loses funding after coming fifth place at Rio!

Wheelchair Rugby Rio

Get Kids Going! who sponsor the Great British Wheelchair Rugby team, who came fifth in the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games- after achieving a 32-52 victory in a tournament against Brazil, have sadly learned that the Team have now had their funding cut!

The GB team competed against the gold-winner Australian team just two days before, losing 53-51.

Their performance against Brazil mirrored their performance in London Paralympics 2012. The team improved enormously from the two previous Paralympics in Beijing and Athens, where they came fourth.

This means that the Great British Wheelchair rugby team has been unsuccessful in securing funding for the Tokyo Paralympics in 2020, which now means that the charity may have to shoulder even more responsibility for the team in the future!

Get Kids Going! has provided wheelchairs for the Great British Rugby Team over five years, and are encouraging all our suppliers to try and raise more than ever so we can support the boys even more in the future.
