Good luck to Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby Team in the 2022 World Championships

We wish all the best The Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby Team in the World Championships which is taking place in DGI Huset Vejle, Denmark from 10 until 16 October 2022.  The Paralympic champions, Great Britain, got off to a flying start in their first game on 10th October against Switzerland.

The score was GB 66 v Switzerland 43. Player of the match Jamie Stead said “First win of the World Championships under our belts and a full Leicester tigers line up on court to see the game out making Tigers’ history …. Germany up next”. The Great Britain team will be playing Germany on Tuesday 11th October at 7.15pm BST.

The 11 teams competing against each other are GB, United States, Denmark, Switzerland, Brazil, New Zealand, Colombia, France, Japan, Germany and Australia.

GB team coach Paul Shaw said:

“Since Tokyo we have been working on developing new players from our Talent pathway, exposing them to the top teams. The new players stepped up and have challenged the senior players which has made selection the toughest we’ve had for a few years.

I’m very excited to be leading this team to the World Championships and believe we have a squad who could make history again and win in Denmark.”

GB continued their winning streak with their second match against Germany on 11th October.

They also made it three wins in a row with a closely fought match against New Zealand on 12th October.

The scores were very close in their following two games – they scored 54 against France’s 55 point win on October 12th and 49 against USA’s 55 on October 13th. They now face Australia in the Quarter Finals on October 14th
