L’Etape Du Tour 2026 Start – Le Bourg-d’Oisans Finish – Alpe d’Huez
The 2026 L’Étape du Tour will give you the chance to experience one of the most demanding mountain stages of the Tour de France. The route stretches for roughly 170km and features around 5,400 metres of vertical ascent, placing it among the most challenging editions in recent years. It replicates the kind of Alpine stage that defines the general classification in the professional race.
You will face a sequence of iconic climbs, beginning with the long and leg-sapping ascent of the Col de la Croix de Fer. This climb is known for its sustained gradients and changing scenery as the road rises through forested sections into high Alpine terrain. The technical descent that follows requires concentration before the route heads towards the next set of climbs.
The middle of the course includes the pairing of the Col du Télégraphe and the Col du Galibier – a legendary double act in Tour de France history. The Télégraphe is steady and shaded, but it softens the legs ahead of the exposed and high – altitude slopes of the Galibier. Weather conditions on this section can be unpredictable, adding to the challenge and the drama.
The finish comes on one of cycling’s most famous roads: the ascent to Alpe d’Huez, with its 21 numbered hairpins and vocal crowds lining the route. After a full day of high-mountain effort, the final climb is a true test of pacing and resilience. Reaching the summit will deliver not only a finish-line medal but an authentic taste of what it takes to conquer a defining stage of the Tour de France.
As a Get Kids Going! rider you will be using this immense challenge to help transform young lives. Every kilometre climbed and every hairpin conquered will help to raise funds to give disabled children and young people the chance to enjoy sport, access specialist equipment, and push their own limits just as the you do on the road.
