Kent Downs 50 Ultra Challenge

The Kent Downs 50 Ultra Challenge is a Walk, Jog or Run through some of Kent’s most picturesque and fertile landscapes hence its name the Garden of England.

Starting Near Maidstone
The race begins near Maidstone, the historic county town, which provides a gateway into the diverse landscapes of Kent.

Through the Kent Downs
You then venture into the rolling hills of the Kent Downs – an area of outstanding natural beauty. This stretch offers a mix of challenging terrain and breathtaking views, showing the region’s lush countryside.

Blue Bell Hill
The course climbs Blue Bell Hill, where you are rewarded with panoramic views that capture the essence of Kent’s rolling landscape.

Picturesque Aylesford
The route passes through Aylesford, a charming town known for its traditional English character, providing a scenic and cultural experience.

Following the River Medway
Next, the path winds along the gentle banks of the River Medway. This section brings a serene, water – side element to the challenge, highlighting the natural waterways that have historically supported the region’s agriculture.

Mote Park
The route will take you through Mote Park – a historic parkland in Maidstone that blends natural beauty with cultural heritage.

Along the Len Valley Walk
The challenge then takes on a tranquil pace along the Len Valley Walk, where the peaceful, rural setting underscores the event’s connection to Kent’s countryside.

Leeds Castle
One of the race highlights is passing Leeds Castle, an iconic landmark known for its impressive architecture and documented past. Its picturesque surroundings add a touch of historical grandeur to the challenge.

North Downs back to the Showground Finish
The final leg loops back through the rugged yet beautiful North Downs, culminating in a finish at the Showground. This segment brings the event full circle, combining elements of endurance, scenic beauty, and a celebration of Kent’s diverse landscapes.

Option 2: Full Sponsorship For Charity – pay a small registration fee and fundraise for Get Kids Going! (who pays for your place)

Full Challenge (50km) – £40 registration fee and at least £375 fundraising pledge
Half Challenge (25km) – £30 registration fee and at least £275 fundraising pledge
10K Challenge (10km) – £15 registration fee and at least £150 fundraising pledge

Option 3: Mixed Funding For Charity – pay for half your place cost and fundraise less for Get Kids Going! (who pays half of your place cost)

Full Challenge (50km) – £75 registration fee and at least £225 fundraising pledge
Half Challenge (25km) – £50 registration fee and at least £150 fundraising pledge
10K Challenge (10km) – £25 registration fee and at least £100 fundraising pledge

Option 4: Own Place Charity Fundraising – pay for your place and fundraise whatever you can for Get Kids Going! (with small admin fee to charity)

Full Challenge (50km) – £139 registration fee paid online and fundraise whatever you can
Half Challenge (25km) – £89 registration fee paid online and fundraise whatever you can
10K Challenge (10km) – £49 registration fee paid online and fundraise whatever you can

Event Accessibility

Visually impaired participants are welcome and usually take part with someone supporting them on route. There may be a discounted charge for this to cover event costs such as food etc. Event sites are generally in playing fields or outdoor areas on flat land. For spectators, there is limited wheelchair access, and this can vary on the day depending on ground conditions.

By joining our team you’ll be helping children and young people with disability, get into sport.

Get Kids Going! is a national charity which gives disabled children and young people, up to the age of 26 years, the wonderful opportunity of participating in sport. We provide them with specially built sports wheelchairs so they can do: athletics, marathons, tennis, skiing, rugby, sailing, basketball, snowboarding and many other sports.

Get Kids Going! inspires young people to compete in sporting events, from start to paralympic level, by also giving them annual sports grants to help with their; training, travel, competition fees and the development of sports’ equipment. With your help many of these amazing youngsters can become world record holders and paralympic champions!
