Our great Get Kids Going! supported athletes para skiers Menna Fitzpatrick & Katie Guest are swapping skiing for hiking as they will be doing the Everest Base Camp Challenge for us.
They want to raise awareness for us as your amazing fundraising helped to send them to Winter Paralympics and many more events, where visually impaired Menna and her guide Katie went on to achieve great results.
Menna said “Having been recipients of their help, it is now time to help give something back.
This November I will be hiking up to Everest Base Camp with my guide Katie Guest, an expedition that will provide a challenge showing that visual impairments should not limit our sense of adventure!”
Find out more about their challenge & support if you can here.
Menna was a proud flag bearer for Great Britain at the World Para Alpine Skiing Championships and said of the whole event:
“I just like to say a massive thank you to the team we had around us who created a fun and calming environment which is exactly what I needed.
“I also want to say a big thank you to you Katie for all you do to make sure we ski as fast and as safely as we can. Also for filling me with confidence as we’ve worked out confident skiing is fast Skiing.
“Lastly thank you to everyone supporting from afar and thanks for the messages they are a great comfort whilst away from home.”
