Get Kids Going! supported athlete Tim Jeffery reaches Paralympic finals in shooting

Tim Jeffery was delighted with his results on 30th August at the Asaka Shooting Range in Tokyo. He finished eighth in the R4 mixed 10m air rifle standing SH2 event to reach the final in his first event of the Games. This was a fantastic effort for the Get Kids Going! supported athlete after a score of 631.5 in the qualification stages.

The Get Kids Going! supported athlete began shooting at age 11. “I got into rifle shooting through the scout association.” He said “I mainly shot rifle and just did small bits of pistol on the side for fun. I was quite small and I said I’d like to have a go. People said I wouldn’t be able to do it. Ever since then I was determined to prove them all wrong.”

Tim said: “I am ecstatic to have made the final. I haven’t done this event before, so to get to the final, I am very happy, and it sets me up well for my other events.”

Tim has two more events remaining at the Paralympic Games, with R5 and R9 still to come.

“I shall take a deep breath after today, but I can’t get wait to get back out there now and see what I can do.”

Get Kids Going! supported athlete, Issy Bailey, finished 18th place in Women’s 10m Air Pistol SH2 with a score of 468. We wish her all the best for her next event (P3) which will take place on Thursday 2nd September.
