Millie Lights Paralympic Flame!

Get Kids Going! Ambassador and former VI GB Paralympic Skier was asked to do the honours of lighting the Paralympic Flame to kick off the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Paralympic Games. The lighting of the Flame marks the symbolic start of the Flame’s 11 day journey from the UK to Verona, Italy, when on Friday 6 March the Paralympic Torch will be carried into the Arena di Verona as part of the Opening Ceremony

Millie, from Kent, was supported and funded by Get Kids Going! throughout her long skiing career when she competed in all four ski disciplines including; Downhill, Super-G, Super Combined, Slalom and Giant Slalom at both World and Paralympic level.

Millie joined the GB Paralympic skiing team in 2012 and progressed to compete at many international-level events. Millie was Britain’s flagbearer at the 2014 Sochi Winter Paralympics in Russia being her debut Paralympics – where, at the age of 15, she was the youngest person ever to compete for Paralympics GB the Winter Games. 

Millie took part in three Winter Games including Sochi in 2014, Pyeongchang in 2018 and finally at Beijing in 2022.  Mille grew to become World No.1 in downhill and No.2 in Super-G and Super Combined. 

Millie won 2 Paralympic silver medals and 1 bronze medal in Pyeongchang and a further bronze at the Beijing Winter Games.

Having retired from skiing Millie has now taken up Karate where she has represented England at the World Championships in Budapest. 

Millie is an absolutely fantastic Get Kids Going! Ambassador and great inspiration for so many, young, disabled athletes!
