Wheelchair Team To Compete At The Virgin Money London Marathon!

Get Kids Going! has a fantastic team of wheelchair athletes competing in this year’s Virgin Money London Marathon with race day being on Sunday 26th April.
The team are hoping to win both the Senior Men’s and Women’s Wheelchair Marathon and hopefully most of the Junior Wheelchair races too!
Get Kids Going!, Vice President, David Weir is aiming for a record breaking 7th win! He has been supported by Get Kids Going! since he was twelve and has won the Silverstone and Lisbon Half Marathons already this year! David tells us that he is on great form and looking forward to the race.

Shelly in action at the Athletics World Cup

Shelly Woods, one of our athletes and ambassadors, has been part of the Get Kids Going! team for 10 years and will be looking for her second London Marathon victory after winning the Women’s Wheelchair race at the Lisbon Half Marathon at the end of March. In the Junior Wheelchair Racing team Get Kids Going! have five fantastic disabled youngsters taking part including: Issac Towers, Dillon Labrooy and Ben Rowlings who will be competing in the Boys Under 17’s race whilst Eden Rainbow-Cooper will be taking part in the Girls Under 17’s race. Finally, Graham Spencer, will compete in the Boys Under 14’s race. All our wonderful youngsters dream of being as good as the Weir Wolf himself one day!
As well as the Get Kids Going! wheelchair team we have over 300 fantastic runners who are taking part in the Marathon to raise money for the charity. We are extremely grateful for all their wonderful support and kindness and are looking forward to cheering them all along on race day.
We are delighted to send our best wishes and good luck to all our athletes and runners for marathon day!
